I hate portrait photography. Especially commercial portrait photography. I'm not talking about candid photos of individuals that turn out really nicely. I'm talking about posed photos. Fake photos. Photos that are posed, lighted, and airbrushed to shit. I'm the kind of guy who likes the photos that capture something very real. A moment.
I want to make it clear that if you choose to engage in portrait photography, or if you like it, this isn't a personal attack on you and I don't hate you. This is merely my opinion on the matter.
The reason I'm posting about this? I want to know why you like it and why you think it's a legitimate branch of photography [harsh? maybe]. Why do you think a posed photo of an individual is better than a candid one?
